David McLean
M.B.A., Ph.D, Partner, Soulzatwork

Managing Director, Leadership and Organization Change Consulting

David has over 25 years of corporate experience working within both global multinationals and start-up ventures in the medical, pharmaceutical and financial services industries. Rejoining Soulzatwork in May of 2013 following a successful executive career at Zurich Insurance, David brings the unique insights he has observed in complex systems to his work as both as a coach, a mentor, and a consultant. David's research interests in relational leadership inform his practice and his approach to systemic organizational challenges, where he works with executive sponsors to address questions that plague optimal performance and productivity. His areas of expertise include Strategic Business Development, General Management, Organizational Development, Sales and Marketing, Executive Coaching and Organizational Storytelling.

David's leadership experience has revealed one immutable truth: leaders have the capacity to inspire and be the catalyst for brilliance, as well as to demoralize and be responsible for failure. David is fascinated with both, specifically with the promise that relational leaders who create deep connections can enable heightened productivity, greater positivity and organizational resilience, themes that he explores in his research and writing. David is also the author of The Soul Cafe, a critically-acclaimed novel about leadership and authenticity, and has recently completed his second novel The Urban Angel. He is currently working on his third book, a compilation of leadership stories, along with several journal articles describing a new leadership prototype he has defined called relational agility.

David has been an active board member with a number of Provincial and National charitable organizations, is a trained coach through the Coaches Training Institute and Centre for Right Relationship and currently is on faculty at the Schulich Executive Education Centre at York University in Toronto.
